These workshops will be held SATURDAYS at 9:30 AM in September, starting the 8th.  This RYL series will include a very helpful Design Question and Answer session with the very relatable educator and designer, Pat Overby, as well as the usual high-quality information you get from owners Jeff Bohn and Mike Evans.  The four parts are:

September 8 – Replace Your Lawn (RYL) I: Kill the grass!
September 15 – RYL II: Creating and Caring for your Native Plant Garden
September 22 – RYL III: Native Plant Garden Tour
September 29 – RYL IV: Design Q and A with Pat Overby

All of these workshops are FREE of charge and no reservations are necessary.   Each session lasts about an hour, (depending on questions!). Read More for more details…

**Hours: During  September we are open on Saturdays 8a-12 noon, until we launch our regular season hours of 9a-4p on Saturday September 29.**

Replace Your Lawn I: Kill the grass!

Step one – get rid of it!  Jeff Bohn will share how this may be more involved than you would expect and the methods to get rid of a lawn are quite varied.  Avoid unnecessary labor and learn several successful methods for lawn removal, depending on you turf type, budget, and timeline. Replace Your Lawn II: Creating and Caring for your Native Plant Garden

Mike Evans will give you a native gardening crash course that is not to be missed.  Want a garden that looks attractive year round with a minimal amount of “maintenance”?  Come to this class.  Using sound horticultural practices specific to native plants will help your project be successful and attractive.  Change “maintenance” tasks into caring for your garden – because a garden involves care, not just tasks!

Replace Your Lawn III: Native Plant Garden Tour

Join us as we tour the planted gardens at Tree of Life Nursery and we will point out many different plants along with ideas of their use in your garden.  Get inspired and start thinking about what plants might work for your garden project!  This is a very useful opportunity to get familiar with what some natives look like full-grown and great inspiration for plant combinations.

Replace Your Lawn IV: Design Q and A with Pat Overby

If you’ve been to any of Pat Overby’s talks, then you know she is an excellent communicator who translates the overwhelming details of “DYI Design” into relatable, manageable and understandable action steps.  Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from Pat, bring your questions and learn not only the answer, but how to think about design concepts as a whole.  Pat Overby has a long history of designing with native plants and a clear understanding of how to communicate about design topics related to native plants.
