“STOP, LOOK, AND LISTEN”
Come learn from a lifelong horticulturist Catherine Waters (who wears her binoculars everywhere) how to attract and enjoy birds in your California natural garden. And guess what! It’s not just about birds. Many wildlife species, including beneficial pollinators, lizards, frogs, etc. will call your functional natural garden their home. Cat Waters, an acclaimed ornithologist, will discuss how to make it happen.

February 16 – 9:30-10:30 am
Container Gardening
Create a beautiful arrangement of native plants in a decorative ceramic container. We will provide a decorative, re-usable ceramic container, soil, and a variety of flowering native plants for you to choose from. Three plants will fit into the provided containers so that you can create distinct and unique combinations. We will provide workspace, assistance, decorative rocks and found wood pieces to decorate your container in a naturalistic style. Registration ($30 per person).

February 23 – 9:30-10:30 am
Starting a Native School Garden
Join Tesoro High School teacher and California Native Plant Society Ambassador Tony Tubbs for a discussion on how to start and maintain a native garden at your school! Tony started a California native garden at Tesoro High School 5 years ago and has been caring for it since with involvement and support from students, administrators, and staff alike. Topics covered will include challenges to starting and maintaining a native garden, student involvement with designing, planting, and caring for the garden, school-wide use of the garden, and community engagement.
