Come learn about a local Monarch Butterfly Overwintering Site and the vital role that the diversity of CA native plants play in sustaining monarch butterfly populations and local ecosystems.
This educational workshop will be hosted by Michelle Brislen, who currently teaches IB Marine Science at San Clemente High School. Michelle is a leader in STEAM education, field research, and student engagement. Michelle holds a Master’s in Teaching Biological Sciences & Conservation and is deeply involved in environmental restoration, student advocacy, and interdisciplanary learning.
Michelle and her students partner with San Clemente State Beach scientists to restore native habitats. Their work at the Monarch Butterfly Overwintering Site includes planting nectar-rich native flora and observing pollinator activity.
After the workshop, visit our nursery. We are stocked with CA native plants to take home and plant in your own yard to create a sustainable and beneficial habitat for local flora and fauna!
